13th TOMBSTONE RALLY

Friday 5th September 2008 saw the beginning of the BOOTHILL MCC, 13th Tombstone Rally in the BEN VARRY, Dundrum. The weather wasn't the best and the Weekend got off to a slow start D.N.A. were the band playing and although there was a small crowd everyone had an excellent Evening with even more to come on Saturday 6th September. The day got off to a great start with blue skies and the odd shower here and there but that didn't put off the Rally goers as the field started to fill up with tents and the bar with people. Pete Gardiner started the afternoons entertainment with an acoustic set in the front bar, he went down a storm and played on from 6:00pm - 12 Midnight (thanks Pete hope your fingers are ok) Then in the Main Hall AJENDA started at 10:00pm they were absolutely fantastic and the crowd thoroughly enjoyed them (we still don't know where Jen gets that amazing voice from), they even finished up doing a duet of one of the best ACDC numbers (Touch To Much) along with ROCKAHOLICS the headlining band for the Night. ROCKAHOLICS finished off the Night playing into the we small hours banging out loads of fantastic Rock Covers and Gary walking on tables again (he has far too much energy) Michael even went into the crowd with his guitar and scared a few people (me being one of them).

There was as usual an excellent standard of bikes making the Trophy winners extremely hard to decide upon, but we decided on four of the best bikes / trikes in the field with BEST STREETFIGHTER - Girvan from Streetfighters NI 1200 Bandit, BEST TRIKE - Stevie from the Flatliners MCC VN1500, BEST HARLEY DAVIDSON - Mo's (again), CLUB MEMBERS AWARD - Dee from Orchard County MCC's Trike.

Other trophies awarded went to, FURTHEST TRAVELLED MALE - Leather from Caledonian Phoenix, Aberdeen (thanks for travelling all that way in the lovely weather we had), FURTHEST TRAVELLED FEMALE - Sinead from Drogheda (who signed in just at the last minute and rode her bike all that way despite having stitches in her finger) and BIGGEST CLUB TURNOUT - Orchard County MCC

All in all we had an excellent 13th Tombstone Rally, a huge thank you to the BEN VARRY for having us and looking after us all weekend, a huge thanks to all the people who came to support us, a huge thanks to the Bands / Musicians - D.N.A., Pete, AJENDA and the ROCKAHOLICS. And of course an even bigger thanks to all the BOOTHILL MCC Club Members who came and worked hard, not only over the Weekend but also in the run up to the Rally, without you this would never have gone so well.
